Lisa Bateman

Paraplanner

Lisa’s background is firmly rooted in financial services. She began her career at Halifax, then went on to work with Graham Gibson, first in his previous business and then at Fortis once he’d set it up. She then spent five years in tech and AI, which gave her a fresh perspective on how technology can make life simpler for clients. Lisa has since returned to Fortis to retrain as a paraplanner, supporting our wealth adviser, Steve, behind the scenes. She particularly enjoys the research and analysis side of the role, digging into the detail to make sure clients receive a thorough, well-considered service.

What’s your greatest achievement?

Without a doubt, raising my two epic boys, who I’m so proud of. Alongside that, I studied for my degree while they were young and I was working full time. It wasn’t always easy, but I hope it showed them that you can achieve anything if you’re prepared to focus and put the work in. It also confirmed something I’ve always known: studying is my favourite thing!

What do you do for fun?

You’ll find me out on my paddleboard on rivers, lakes and the sea, whatever the weather. I also love painting and crafting, and lately I’ve been learning watercolour techniques. I put those creative skills to good use volunteering with The Lighthouse, a local charity, where I help run art therapy sessions with their Nurture group.
